SOLD - Night Sky, Spirits Rising, 2021 (16x20")

My original intention was simply to create a night sky using a darker colour as a base, maybe even hinting at some Northern Lights. During the creative process, I think I was subconsciously influenced by the discovery of unmarked graves on the grounds of residential schools, and images of candlelight vigils. Their spirits rise, but that does not excuse the fact that we, as a society, failed them while they were alive. We have to do better.
