SOLD - Spring Thaw with Birches, 2021 (16x16")

This piece represents the very end of winter, just before the leaves start budding on the trees. While I generally paint with some kind of photographic reference, I came up with this composition by just looking out my window and observing nature. As usual, the background and the trees themselves are highly stylized, yet they yet the overall effect is somehow representational of actual scenery.

Mixed media: acrylic and latex paints, liquid asphalt (rubberized). Painted on gallery depth cradled birch panel. Finished with resin.
