First Blush shows a mountain landscape emerging from the wood of the panel it is painted on. This piece is composed of mostly soft colours: cream and tan, streaked with muted pinks, yellows, and blues. The colour scheme intensifies at the point where the mountain range grows out of the landscape.
While a mountain landscape is intrinsically dramatic, this version strives for a more subtle, meditative, view. The mountains themselves are still solid, the overall feeling is about gentle transitions rather than stark contrasts.
