AVAILABLE - Heading West, 2023 (30x15")

I really wanted to depict how the sun, at a certain angle, can appear to burn a hole through the trees. Yet the sun will soon move below the horizon, and the trees will still be intact. The overall effect of this piece is softer and gentler than some of my other sunsets - no blazing red, neon orange, or hot pink - yet the contrast between the purplish sky and the complementary yellow sunlight still creates enough drama for interest!

Mixed media: acrylic and latex paints, spray paint, and liquid asphalt (rubberized). Painted on gallery depth cradled birch panel; underpainted with horizontal lines (visible at certain angles only).
