SOLD - Out of Africa, 2024 (20x40")

This painting was inspired by a photo safari trip to Zulu Nyala, South Africa. It was an unforgettable experience to get to see this landscape, and the animals in their natural environment. This particular photograph was shot in colour, but came out looking almost monochromatic, due to some trick of lighting at that particular moment. As soon as I saw the image on my camera screen, I knew that I would have to paint this one.

Mixed media: acrylic and latex paints, spray paint, spray primer, silt (stone dust), and liquid asphalt (rubberized). Painted on cradled birch panel.
