AVAILABLE - Fire in the Sky, 2023 (24x24")

The goal for this piece was to capture the intense sunset colours, along with the sweep of movement in the sky. I ended up creating an X-shaped composition by adding in the subtler, but important, reflections on the surface of the water. This specific effect could not have been achieved without the use of spray paint. It's a scary part of the process, as spray painting can ruin an almost-finished painting in the blink of an eye; but in this case, it worked out.

Mixed media: acrylic and latex paints, liquid asphalt (rubberized), and spray paint. Painted on gallery depth cradled birch panel.
