TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE - Resilience (20x16")
Resilience was inspired by old growth forests, those "gentle giant" trees that survive year after year. In this piece, the hazy sky and haloed sun hint at the annual threat, to the trees and to humans, of wildfire season. We tend to take trees for granted, yet they are essential to our survival, providing oxygen, cooling, and respite for all of us, in the face of pollution and changing population patterns. They ask nothing from us in return, other than that we allow them the time and space to continue growing. The trees were here long before we humans arrived, and I trust that they will still be here long after we are gone.
Mixed media: acrylic and latex paints, metallic wax paint, liquid asphalt (rubberized). Painted on gallery depth cradled birch panel.
NOTE: While still available to purchase, this piece has been committed to a show at the Kelowna Art Gallery from November 2025 to March 2026. As a result Resilience can be delivered only after the show closes. Please contact me for details - NP
