AVAILABLE - The Narrows, 2021 (36x12")

A few years ago, we had the chance to visit Newfoundland. I loved the view from our hotel window: a narrow slice of sky and ocean visible through the entrance to St John's Harbour. The trick to turning this view into an abstract landscape painting, for me, was to strike a precarious balance. I wanted to create a scene that is abstract yet reminiscent of the sea; calm, yet dynamic enough to engage the viewer. Texture turned out to be the key.

Mixed Media: acrylic and latex paints, liquid asphalt (rubberized), marble powder, and silt. Painted on gallery depth canvas.

Please note that any cracking or crazing of the paint is intentional, and should not be considered a flaw.
